Abstract

This study examines the distinction between working memory and short-term memory, and presents novel evidence that separate memory stores are involved in working and ***** *****. Despite an abund*****ce of research, there is still no clear distinction between working memory and the concept of short-term memory, and alternative models of working ***** have emerged. In one model, short- term memory storage is not implicated in working ***** tasks, while an alternative view suggests ***** short-term ********** ***** memory ***** use a common storage mechanism. Measures of short-term *****, working memory, rehearsal, lexical access and general fluid intelligence were assessed in 146 participants between the ages of 18 to 65.
