Access
***** Access is a very useful tool for creating small and medium scale databases for organizations. It ***** also an environment that can be used to develop whole applications such as accounting systems - from the user interfaces to the code that contains the business logic. This paper will discuss two sample datab*****es: a payroll system and a contact management system.
A payroll system is used by companies ***** track employee salaries, taxes, and deductions. It is ***** useful ***** automating the tedious calculations involved in determining an employee's net pay, or how much the company owes ***** employee for services rendered. The larger the company, ***** more employees it needs to pay and the greater ***** need to have a fully *****u*****mated system. For this system, I've created a simple database containing two tables: Employee and Salary. The Employee table contains basic employee information such as employee number, name, date hired, and title. ***** Salary ***** contains ********** ***** like social security *****, salary, billing rate, ***** deductions. For every *****roll cycle (ex. monthly), it is only necessary to calculate the net pay for each employee using the *****mula Net Pay = Salary - Taxes - Deductions. I've created a Payroll Report in the Reports section of the datab*****e to demonst***** th*****. Instead of doing ********** calculations manually for all *****s, the ***** can do it automatic*****y.
A contact management system, or customer relationship management system, primarily makes use of a database ***** pr*****iles and contact information of potential and existing customers. This is very useful for marketing, sales, ***** customer service. It can help improve a ***** ***** targeting a marketing or sales effort to a specific group ***** people. For example, a comp*****ny may offer to sell tennis equipment ***** people who already play ***** regularly. Such people are more *****ly to respond ***** ***** offer than people w*****h other interests. ***** created a sample database with an application that ***** search *****s by interest. Open the database "Contact.mdb" and go to "*****ms." Open the "ContactSearch" form and you will see a list of contacts in the bottom list. If you type someth*****g in the "Interest" field (example: tennis) ***** click the "Search" button, it will return a list ***** ***** cont*****cts with ***** particular **********.
