It ***** not until 1989 that George Bush named Colin Powell chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, making him the first black officer to hold this highest military post in ***** United *****, ***** 1992 that the first ***** American woman was elected to the U.S. Senate.

M***** ***** have embraced the religion and beliefs of their homeland, wearing African dress, and celebrating African holidays like Kwanzaa. Black history is taught in more schools, and Black History Month has become one of the most popular ***** educational for most all *****.

African-American culture is also more ***** just a blending of two country's cultures; it is an attempt for people to underst*****d each other. Black Americans are proud ***** their ancestry, and ***** not afraid to share ***** with others, to help them understand. They embrace the ***** of their homeland not ***** make *****selves different from other Americans, ***** to help others ***** understand their unique situation.
