***** past 50 years have brought about a new awareness regarding the impact of families on the formation of personality, character, emotional reactions and self-esteem. (Brody, 1999) While it has always been known that individuals are strongly influenced by their families, experts now understand that the influence is far greater than anticipated in earlier years.

Families are dynamic social systems, w*****h structural laws, components and rules. (Cadwick, et al, 1988) The most important ***** these family rules are those that determ*****e what it means to be a hum*****n being. These rules embrace the most fundamental beliefs regarding raising children. The way that children are raised has been proven to form *****ir core beliefs, att*****udes and emotional well-*****. (This ***** awareness is not the only thing that has changed in ***** past 50 *****. Brody, *****) Just a h*****lf century ago, rais*****g a family in America without a father was rare. Over the ***** decades, this has changed drastically ***** many ***** are ***** in a whole new w*****y. In ***** ********** many families today, the fa*****r is m*****sing in action. *****all, nearly four out of every ten children ***** *****, approximately 24 million total, reside in a fatherless household. (With ***** ***** changes come many additional factors. Austin, et al, 1998) The rate of violence and anger in children has increased significantly during ***** time, as have the *****s of teenage pregnancy, juvenile delinquency and drugs. All of these *****, when studied, ***** been somehow linked to adolescent problems that stem from the increase of absent fa*****rs.

Children's needs are insatiable in the sense that *****y constantly need their parents throughout their childhood. Children who have been abandoned by their fathers often feel abandoned and alienated, which can create a shame-based or *****-based inner core.

Once a child's inner ***** is fl*****wed by shame or anger, the experience of growing up ***** self-identity is painful. This is why ***** experts say that ***** root ***** shame and anger in children ***** primarily due ***** the absence of a father.

Experts are f*****ding out that children, as they g***** older, need to establish contact with their biological *****, even if they have a good stepfather. Boys need ***** ***** to teach them appropriate masculine behavior ***** to learn acceptable ways to deal with their *****ings *****
