Empirical research into problems faced by established foreign retailers in Thailand: The case study of The Body Shop

Abstract

***** the last decade or so, the linkages between trade liberalization, improved environmental protection and sustainable economic development have rapidly gained attention on both nati*****al ***** international policy agendas. In this increasingly globalized marketplace, retailers seeking to establish a new presence, or exp*****nd an existing one, are faced with a number of challenges and opportunities. Today, the Body Shop competes in ***** health and beauty market. As part of its corporation values, the Body Shop emphasizes a wide r*****nge ***** social and environmental causes and issues in its consumer marketing ***** market products that ***** consistent with its expressed philosophies including "cruelty free," non-animal-tested *****. Because the Body Shop is a multin*****tional concern ***** outlets located in ***** U.S., the U.K. and Asia, it is important for the company ***** provide a decentralized network that enables timely deliveries of its niche market products and to keep abreast ***** changes ***** indigenous customs and trends ***** may affect ***** behaviors. In order to determine precisely how companies ***** succeeded, and failed, at extending their retail franchise oper*****ions abroad, this ***** examines what are being problems faced by established ***** ***** in Thail*****. To this end, an introduction to the study is provided in Chapter One; a review of the rel*****ted and scholarly literature in ***** Two is followed by a discussion of the research framework ***** Chapter Three. Chapter Four describes the research methodology employed and Chapter Five provides the *****'s summary, conclusions and recommendations.
