Essay on Logic

***** statement to be analyzed is as follows:

***** general, people are not ***** c*****cerned as they were a dec*****de ago about regulating their intake of red meat and fatty cheeses. Walk in***** the Heart's Delight, a store th*****t started selling organic fruits ***** vegetables and whole‑grain flours in the 1960's, and you will also find a wide selection of cheeses m*****de with high butterfat content. Next door, the owners of ***** Good Earth CafJ, an old vegetarian restaurant, are still making a modest living, but the owners ***** the new House of Beef across the street are millionaires.

This argument is not well-reasoned at all, and as stated, a good deal of information that would make this statement more acceptable is missing. Parts ***** the ***** are implied, ***** the background has to be inferred from ***** opening sentence, which is also ***** fully explained.

The ***** sentence refers to a period *****ginning a decade before in which many ***** stopped eating red meat and fatty ***** and turned to what they saw as healthier fare. This healthier food is not clearly identified, but it ***** implied that it includes vegetarian meals, food ***** less fat content, ***** what would be identified ***** "health food" in certain types of market, such as organic markets. This part of the argument simply ***** to be accepted ***** true, meaning ***** it is a given that tastes changed ***** make people want to eat healthier food and ***** reduce ***** fat in their food.

*****, the author stats, this has changed. He says that ***** are not as concerned about these issues as they once were. He offers ***** evidence the fact that one ********** health food store, ***** Delight, now carries a lot of cheeses with high ***** content. The re*****der has to ask if ***** is really a change. The ***** says the store opened to sell organic fruits ***** vegetables and whole‑grain flours beginning in ***** 1960s. ***** does ***** say the store no longer sells *****se *****stuffs, only that they now sell fatty cheeses. Did they sell ***** cheeses when they opened? Are ***** ***** ***** healthier food except for the fatty *****? Do they actually ***** these cheeses to any notable degree, or do ***** just carry them for the few customers who want *****? Any ***** ********** possibilities could be the case, and some of *****m ***** lead to different conclusions.

Assume as the author does that people did ***** ***** eating habits ten years ago and that analyzing what ***** sell today shows whether they continue to have those views or not. Even then, looking to the s*****ck ***** three markets ***** drawing a bro*****d conclusion is absurd. These ***** stores cannot possibly reflect the buying ***** of all Americans. Even if the author confines himself to the local area, what constitutes ***** local area would have to be defined. If this is a small *****wn and these are the only three
