Abstract

While a growing body of research has been devoted to the cultural ***** economic implications ***** these trends, less attention ***** been given to why a potential restaurateur would seek one business form over another. Therefore, this study examines how business failures ***** variously defined in the restaurant industry, what ***** respective recent failure rates are between franchised ***** and their independent counterparts, and what the ***** of ***** findings might be for the restaurant industry today and in the future.
