Harriet Ann Jacobs and Genji Were a lot Alike

***** ***** Jacobs, who grew up as a slave, ***** Genji, who ***** up in a royal court, could not have led more different lives when looked at on the surface, but when they are exam*****ed ***** closely there are similarities. These ***** are not so much in the way that *****ir ***** were c*****ducted and the day-to-day routines that *****y had, but rather in the things in life that were important to them and the things that saw them through any hard times that befell them. Because of these similarities, ***** and ***** ***** more alike than time or culture should have permitted.

Many of these similarities are small things ***** ***** really ***** very significant, ***** there are two things that can be shown to belong to both Genji and Jacobs, one that they cultivated and the o*****r ***** they would ***** gladly changed. One is the love of family and friends that they both had; the other is the tragic loss ***** their mothers at a young ***** vulner*****ble age where they really ***** have used the maternal help and support.

The thought would be that the values that each one of ***** holds would ***** totally different from the values of the other *****, and the experiences of one would be ***** alien to ***** other one because ***** cultural differences ***** no common ground could be found. Instead, the similarities between Genji and Jacobs go to show that while *****s ***** people and locations may differ greatly ***** people, there are themes running through the very thread of humanity that can't be ignored. These are the ties that bind ***** together and make people realize that ***** are all on the same small world. These ties are universal.
