5. Analysis of the Data
For this particular analysis, it is important to note that 147 participants resp*****ded to ***** surveys that were conducted by the researcher over a four-month period from September to December of 2003. Out ***** ***** individuals that were surveyed, 99 of them were male and 48 ***** female, attesting ***** the fact that there are more male than fe***** entrepreneurs in ***** ********** of the world. This is not surpris*****g, as most areas of the world have this same imbalance in ***** sex of the *****dividuals that qualify for the term 'entrepreneur.' What was surprising, however, is that many of these individuals, regardless of their gender, had only a secondary education or lower, ***** ********** had any technical college or higher education. This would appear to indicate that the education level of the individual did ***** necessarily affect whe*****r that individual would be successful in ***** endeavors in the business world.
The largest major*****y of these entrepreneurs were in the 31-40 age group and had no formal bus*****ess-skills training ***** ***** kind. Out of those that ***** receive training, most of them received it in how to run a bus*****ess *****nd in the ***** of sales and marketing. Some, however, ***** training in areas that would be considered somewhat obscure by many, such as how ***** make hoes, chicken feed, or chairs. The majority ***** these ********** had never *****en a civil serv*****nt, left their last jobs to work for themselves and run ***** own business, did not ***** in addition to running their own business, and were not looking for any other type of employment instead ***** or in addition to their ***** business when the survey was *****. Those that *****d that they were looking for other employment largely stated that they were doing so because the income that *****y received from their own ***** was ***** enough for them to survive on.
When asked why they started their own business, however, the largest responses involved ***** idea ***** they ***** not making enough money, needed money on which ***** survive, ***** saw an opportunity that they ***** not feel that ***** could turn down. *****, though, either lost ***** other jobs or had inherited their business from their family, while a few (4 out of the 147 responses) indicated ***** there were ***** reasons that they started ***** own *****es. Only 45 of the individuals surveyed stated that ***** belonged to any kind of business ***** or organization, but it is not known if *****y simply chose not to join or whether there was no specific group or ***** ***** they ***** belong to.
