Nationalism and Socialism
*****, Work, Unite" (or Else): The Nationalist Government of Sinistria
***** is a medium-large sized nation within a huge, but mostly under-developed, continent. Sinistria's neighbor to the east, Great Muria, on ***** other h*****, is a capitalistic, extremely acquisitive, huge, and wealthy nati***** that is continually making aggressive efforts and would-be deals to buy more and more Sin*****trian land, including precious forest *****, in order to "develop" Sinistria beyond its humble present state (and secure its own corporate interests there). Grand Muria is especially keen to begin establ*****hing many more of its ***** companies and businesses in S*****istria, where land and labor are extremely cheap comp*****d to ***** Muria, ***** also ***** outsource increasing numbers of Grand *****n jobs to Sinistrians. Sinistrians themselves, consider Great Muria (and other developed capitalistic nations like it, although ***** Muria is by far the closest and the worst) to simply be an invasive, bullying, meddling, and unwelcome *****. Grand Muria, in fact, makes ***** S**********trians feel that *****y and their nation are inferior, and this is what Sinistrians resent most about ***** Muria and Grand *****ns.
Further, many of the older, more conservative, more religious Sinistrians, especially resent so m much ***** Murian presence and influence, e.g., through "outsourcing"; ***** through imported Grand Murian entertainment (e.g., foreign films; fashions; foods, and television programs). Older Sinistrians are most worried ***** all that the younger generations of Sinistrian c*****izens, Sinistria's hope for the future, are losing their *****al identity, ***** ***** trying to ***** too ***** like Grand Murians.
Within this scenario, then, the time for national elections every four years came around in the nation ***** Sinistria, and a charismatic candidate for the highest elected office in the land, President of Sinistria, emerged from out of nowhere. Sinistria was usually a rather factionalized place, but this particular presidential candidate, Ivan Stampetta, knew how to unite everyone as "one great nation ***** *****, special, virtuous, and blessed by God."
An ex-military general, Stampetta had the strong support of ***** military ***** President. He ***** had the ***** of labor and the trade unions, especially since he promised more employment opportunity and a better overall living st*****ard for the nation's poor.
***** leaders embraced him, *****, moved by his campaign speeches about restoring traditional religious values to an increasingly secular Sinistria.
*****'s ***** slogan during the election season was "Serve, Work, Unite." Stampetta confidently told ***** nation during his final televised debate against his opp*****nt, the liberal Wenceslaus Wiltback, ***** he was certain that God would guide Sinistria to make ***** right decision in a couple of days by vot*****g him into *****.
National progress is on the march!" Stampetta declared to the news media the morning of his landslide election. I urge you all ***** serve, work, unite, and toge*****r we will ***** ***** the greatest ***** most po*****rful nation on earth. Power to the poor! Down with Grand Murian capitalism! Long live the glory of Sinistria!"
Everyone cheered and *****, and felt
