THE FOOD PYRAMID
Generally, I am not particularly happy with the pyramid-style representation of food categories in the first place, although ***** 2005 pyramid does make more sense than the 1990 ***** for several reasons. First, it incorporates exercise; second, it recognizes that different people have ***** nutritional needs based on *****ir natural metabolism and their energy expenditure levels. However, in my opinion, neither the 1990 nor the 2005 version distinguishes sufficiently between and among several types of foods that strongly impact ***** appropriate amounts of those particular foods.
***** is still little apparent distinction between complex carbohydrates such as whole wheat, brown rice, yams, semolina or spinach p*****ta (etc.) and simple carbohydrates such as bleached white flour, white *****, ordinary potatoes, or white flour pasta. My understanding is that complex carbohydrates can be a much larger part of a healthful diet than ***** carbohydrates. The new pyramid does suggest that whole grains constitute at least half of all grains consumed but I do not understand why complex carbohydrates must be limited to the indicated amounts.
Likewise, ***** new ***** does ***** that seafood and meats be lean cuts, but I do not understand why the *****est types of fish and poultry ***** be ***** at all because, (as long as ***** ***** is not a type high in cholesterol or mercury), those foods *****re practically pure protein and almost no f***** at all. In my opinion, both pyramids leave a tremendous room ********** error where individuals select the worst possible choices of foods within the prescribed limits; conversely, both pyramids are also unnecessarily restrictive for individuals who make a sincere effort to choose ***** best possible foods in each prescribed
