PARENTING STYLES: AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT PARENTING STYLES AND COGNITIVE ABILITY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD

BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY

Parenting styles have been the focus of extensive research in the field of educational psychology with different styles of parent*****g stated in findings to have differential effects on the development of a child. B*****umrind had the initial c*****ception and stated four parenting ***** and conducted research in relation to the ***** style effect on a child's development.

This study is important to make an assessment as to which parenting ***** is ***** most successful ***** suitable for a child ********** in a specific c*****text.

OBJECTIVE

***** objective of this ***** is to explore the *****ship between parenting styles and child development in order ***** discover which children are developing more *****ly and ***** parenting style *****y are subject to.

***** OF THE PROBLEM

The major problem in this specific area ***** research in educational psychology is that ********** have ********** almost entirely on adolescents ***** children who have become almost independent in the exploration of their achievement on academic levels. Because the first six (6) years of a child's life forever determ*****e much of the child's pers**********lity, beliefs, principles and goals it ***** cr*****ically important to look at the various parenting ***** and ultimately the environment in which the children are being reared. The primary challenge in this research proposal is concerning the conceptual basis ***** parenting styles, which has always presented a problem in regards ***** research in ***** ***** of study.

The proposed methodology of this study is that ***** a qualitative method of research through review of available peer-reviewed literature in this field of study.

***** Style' is defined as "a complex activity ***** includes many specific behaviors that work individually and together to influence child outcomes."
