Reflective Essay: What is an Educated Person?

Being educated means different things to different people. Some people measure education by college degrees on the wall. Other people see it as having common sense or other "street smart" fact*****s. To me, an educated person encomp*****ses both of these *****, but it also ***** more than that. In my personal defin*****ion, an educated person has to not only have ***** official education, such as college, and plenty of common sense, but also the ability ***** openness ***** learn new things and accept new ide*****.

They like to listen ***** other people's opinions and *****as about important issues, and they like to debate and argue those issues, but they don't like ***** fight because they ***** ***** know that fighting is senseless, but they respect other people's opinions too much to try to press their own opinions and beliefs on so*****one else. They underst***** that everyone is different, and ***** is entitled to believe and feel how they like, without the worry that others will insist that ***** are wrong and ***** to change them.

***** who are educated ***** realize that there is a lot of ***** violence and problems in the world today, ***** that there ***** not a great deal that people can do ***** this. However, ***** does not stop them from making an effort to ***** ***** when they see that they ***** actually make a difference in someone's life. Being educated it is also about being kind, compassionate, honest, ********** many other qualities ***** ***** unfortunately lacking in many people ***** this ***** today.

Educated people should be highly skilled *****, but that ***** not mean that they can be or should ***** good at everything. No one is ***** at ***** that they attempt to do, and an educated ***** not only *****ands this ***** realizes that ***** are people in this world who can do something a ***** deal better ***** they can. Instead of being envious or angry about this, they applaud them for it and cheer their success. That does ***** mean that educated people are always kind, or that they ***** so compassionate ***** they always put other's needs and wants before their *****. They understand that this cannot always be the case, and they know the value of taking time for ********** as well as spending time with others. ***** are the kind of people often described as "***** rounded," but yet *****y even taken that definition to a new level.

There are no specific skills that an educated person ***** to have, and no specific job or occupation that they need to be involved in. Educated people are from all walks of life, ***** while it is true that many of them possess quite a few ***** the same qualities, not all educated ***** have knowledge of or can do exactly the ***** th*****gs.
