Western Civilization 11

Hitler was able to defeat France so easily in 1940 due to its use of the Blitzkrieg and ***** use ***** a surprise attack. Instead of attacking France through the Maginot Line as the French expected, the Germans entered France from the northern boarder after first *****ing both Belgium and Luxembourg. The whole time the French army w***** lined up and waiting to battle Germany along ***** eastern boarder. Second, the German's use of the blitzkrieg, or quick air strikes to military targets, took the French forces out of commission prior to ***** invasion, leading to the French putting up little fight when invaded.

However, ***** the Germans began an ***** war on Great Britain, it ultimately failed because *****y changed their tactics. First, instead ***** just focusing on military ***** they al***** bombed civilian targets. This did nothing to weaken the military strength. Sec*****d, Hitler re*****ized that more needed to be done to defeat Britain than just an air war but didn't have the resources for an invasion by sea, so they quit.

Hitler decided to invade Russia in order ***** gain "living space" ***** ***** the future threat of communism to his German Empire. It ***** failed because ********** did not have the ***** resources ***** fight a war on two fronts. While still being heavily fought by the allies on the western front, he had to take away some ***** ***** devote the *****n front. The result was defeat at both fronts. If he would have first won t***** ***** front, then he could ***** *****d all his resources to the eastern front and may have been vic*****rious.
