Dissertation Publishing

Whenever a PhD student writes a report, the student should think about the report publishing requirements or options that may be available to him or her.  After all, a university report is a very important document in the careers or many individuals.  Dissertation publishing may help a learner to launch his or her career or may provide research that makes a difference in a particular field of study.

It is important to note that dissertations publishing is not a requirement for graduation from a PhD program.  However, most students and many institutions do encourage students to pursue dissertation publishing options.  When a student completes his or her assignment, the student always has the option of copyrighting the report and publishing it.

There are several different ways to go about dissertations publishing.  Some students try to have their documents picked up by journals in their respective fields.  For example, if a student performed a great deal of medical research and some of that research was potentially ground breaking, the student may submit portions of his or her assignment or research findings to a medical journal.  Professionals in the medical industry would be able to read portions of the report if it was published in a journal.

Other students prefer to publish their documents by simply submitting them to dissertation databases.  Many institutions will automatically give their students the option to submit their documents to databases.  This form of dissertations publishing allows students to share their work with others that may be interested in it.  These dissertations databases are searchable by anyone interested in reading projects that were written on particular topics.

If a student is interested in pursuing dissertation publishing options, then the student needs to be sure that he or she understands the impact that may result from the report publishing.  In many cases, a well-written report can launch a student's career.  The dissertation will also stick with the student for his or her lifetime.

However, there are also potentially negative side effects of dissertation publishing if the student has not written a very good dissertation or if the thesis is controversial.  For example, if a pupil writes a dissertation on the value of Communism, the student may face difficult questions down the road if the student ever runs for public office.

Dissertation publishing is not the same thing as submitting a college report as part of a graduation requirement.  Any time a student has to write a dissertation for a PhD program, the learner will need to turn it in and defend it in order to graduate from a PhD program.  However, the learner will usually have the option of publishing or not publishing the document.
