Research Paper Template

When it comes to writing a report, there is a certain research paper template that students should follow if they are interested in getting a good grade and having the right format. A research paper template is a basic outline or structure for the document. It may help to think of research paper templates as skeletons and that actual writing is the meat that goes on the bones.
While all reference reports will be different, it is important to note that a standard research paper template is the way that it is because it has proven to be effective. Students learn how to work with these research paper templates from any early level, such as middle school. The template does not change much, though it may become slightly more advanced and complicated.
For all reference reports, the template is basically the following: introduction, body, conclusion, references. Some research papers also require a title page, table of contents, abstract, and appendix. However, a professor will generally list the specific sections that he or she will require when it comes time for his or her students to work on their documents.
For a basic research paper, the introduction needs to be about one paragraph long. It will contain background information about the topic of the report as well as terms that may be mentioned. The introduction is also where the learner will state his or her thesis, which is a one-sentence statement about the purpose of the document. The thesis should be the first or the last sentence in the introduction.
The second part of the report template should be the body. The body will contain paragraphs that support the thesis statement. Each paragraph should contain new information or ideas that are different from the previous, but that flow together.
The conclusion is the final section of all reference report templates. The conclusion is where the learner will recap information or ideas that he or she presented. The conclusion is also where the learner will present his or her own conclusions based on the research itself.
A research paper template is different than a dissertation template. A dissertation is a larger body of work than a report, so it requires additional sections, such as acknowledgements and a methodologies section. However, both a research paper template and a dissertation template are based off of best practices when it comes to writing the respective academic works.
