Title Page for a Term Paper

A term paper is a formal academic document that a learner will create based on research that he or she has performed over an extended period of time. Term papers always need to follow a specific format when the student creates the document. The format is designed to ensure that all of the reports look the same at a glance and that the professor can easily gauge about how much writing a student has included in the report without doing a specific word count. Part of that format may include a title page for a report.
A title page for a report is the first page that a professor will see when a student hands. The title page for a report is also known as the cover page, as it does not contain the introduction or body of the document. Instead, title pages for term papers contain the title of the report along with the student's name.
Whenever a student has to write a report, the learner will use a specific style in order to create the report in the format that the professor prefers. The two most popular styles are MLA and APA style. Even thought the title page for a term paper does not fall within the body of the document, the student still needs to use these styles when creating the title pages for reports.
APA and MLA styles look very similar in the body of the document. However, in the title page, they have very different formats. For example, APA title pages for term papers have a brief summary of the title of the report (even if the title is only two words) as well as the page number for the title page (which will be "one"). However, MLA format is much simpler and only contains the title, author, and date of the document.
APA and MLA title pages for term papers do have the same type of font, in most cases. Both doormats require that students create the title page for a report and the body of the document in size 12 Times New Roman font. However, APA style may allow students to use size 10 and an equivalent typeface.
The title page for a report is usually required by most professors. However, if a professor does not want a title page, then the learner will simply need to include the title of the report and the student's name on the first page of the document. This first page may also contain the introduction and part of the body of the document. When a professor does not specifically address the issue of the title page for a report, the student should always include a title page.
