Explanation

It can be seen from the first schedule or the Start up Schedule given above that at the start of the business the funds that were estimated to be need were $3,337.78. As, it was the beginning of the business everything needed to be bought from scratch because of which the sum of money needed was huge. However, it can be noted that after everything was bought $1,662.22 was left as the leftover funds.

The second schedule comprises of the Income Statement for the first year of business done by ABC Desktop Publishing Business. From the income statement we can see that the total sales for the 1st year were $14,090 whereas, the cost of goods sold was $889.55 which made the gross profit to be $13,200.45. The operating expenses for the 1st year came up to be $4,902.78 which made the net income to be $8,297.67. Therefore, the income earned by the company in the first year that it went into business was $8,297.67.

Conclusion

Since the advent of home printers and computers the desktop publishing business has been working. However, presently this seems to be facing a decline or stagnation but changes of this sort aren't usually very easy to forecast.

Although the industry right now is facing decline but the chances of this business flourishing again are there once the trend of electronic publication increases.

The demand for document publishing won't ever vanish from our society however; there are chances that it will be changed. Therefore, the desktop publishing who will be able to keep up-to-date with this change or those who are ready for it will have their businesses flourishing and earning profits once again.
