SAMPLE EXCERPT:

[. . .] Treatment of PTSD is similar to that of acute stress. CAM techniques can help reduce the level of anxiety and its accompanying symptoms, regardless of whether it is PTSD or acute. CAM therapies are more effective on long-term stress than on rapid onset, short-term stressful conditions. CAM techniques are more effective on milder forms of stress, but in a reduction in the level of stress, regardless of the place in the CISM planned, CAM techniques will help to improve outcomes for patients. In a reduction in stress is helpful.

Who Will Receive CAM Interventions?

As mentioned earlier, CAM techniques are were accepted in culturally diverse groups of people. However, integrated therapies using CAM as edge and therapies are quickly becoming more acceptable to a wider population of both patients and doctors. The effectiveness of CAM therapies is becoming widely accepted, particularly in the mental health profession. The effectiveness of CAM therapies depend on several factors. The first is the severity of the stress. The second is the person's attitude regarding the effectiveness of CAM therapies. The third factor involves cultural acceptance of CAM therapies.

This study found that CAM therapies can be more cost effective than traditional therapies. For patients that are candidates for CAM therapies, these therapies can play an important role in the CISM intervention strategy. Therefore, CAM strategies will be offered as an alternative to, or in an adjunct with traditional therapies. Funds will be set aside to provide for these therapies for those who choose to use them.

CAM therapies will be made available to all participants as part of the CISM plan. Culturally significant practices will be offered that might appeal to certain ethnic groups. For instance, funds can be used to pay for outside acupuncture practitioners, or massage therapists for those who choose to use these services. The wide acceptance of CAM techniques in mainstream America makes it important to offer these alternative types of therapies to all patients rather than just those that are a part of ethnic groups that might be attracted to them. It is expected that certain ethnic groups will be more likely to be attracted to certain therapies than others.

Program Funding and Rationale

Currently, a budget of $500.000 has been set aside for the provision of CAM therapies to those who wish to participate in them. Of this $500,000, $15,000 will be used to develop in print brochures and information to provide to those participating in the CISM program. The brochures and informational packets will inform them about the various types of interventions that are available through the program and on the effectiveness of the prevention of long-term stress related health conditions. It will also be informed helps take part in the programs, should they choose to do so.

There a vast number of CAM interventions available. A pre-approved, prescreened list of providers will be provided to the patients. In order to receive funds for treatment through the program, patients will have to choose from the priest been blessed a providers. The scope of treatments available on the list will be sufficient to make certain that the concerns of various ethnic groups are addressed. The balance of the funds for CAM services will be used to provide for the needs of the patients. This program will provide those who are in need of the services many alternatives to help prevent and resolve stress related issues as result of the critical incident.
