SAMPLE EXCERPT:

[. . .] The government should incorporate strict laws guiding the interaction of the tourist with the culture of the inhabitants of the island. This is through forbidding interference of the state and culture of the island by the tourists in case of their visits. This indicates that the tourists will be advised to maintain the status quo on their visits to the island with the aim of protecting customs, culture, and traditional aspects of the Kahoolawe Island (Jaliu et al., p. 39).

Quality Marketing/Advertisement

It is essential for the government through its tourism ministry to plan and execute effective marketing strategy with the aim of increasing the number of tourists to the center. This is essential for increasing the number of tourists, revenues, and profits for the implementation of the protection process. Quality marketing will enable the authority of Hawaii to increase the awareness of the universe on the benefits and advantages in association with visiting the island of Kahoolawe.

Constant Freshwater source

The planning process should focus on identifying a freshwater source for the minimization of diseases facing the natives and tourists in their visits to the attraction center. This will contribute towards the improvement of the health security and safety of the partisan thus essential for the development and growth of the area. Freshwater source will also act as an essential factor for increasing the number of tourists who will feel safe while visiting the island. These programs should supplement educational programs aiming to promote culture, customs, and traditional norms of the natives of Hawaii.

Positive Impacts

The implementation of the above strategies will contribute towards the realization of positive impacts. One of the positive influences is the increase in the accessibility of the area through enhancement of communication and transportation infrastructures. Accessibility of the area will attract other development programs to the region thus economic growth and development of the region. Another positive impact is the increase in the security and health safety. This relates to the enhancement of security in the area and implementation of consistent freshwater source. There will be minimization of the diseases rising from lack of freshwater source in the island. The adoption and integration of the legislation will enable the society to protect its culture, norms, and customs because of lack of interference from the tourists. The natives will also fill the created employment opportunities thus improvement in the living conditions. The government will also conduct different development plans through incorporation of revenues and profits from the project thus increase in the societal welfare. Education center will have massive boost on the enhancement of the information and culture of the inhabitants of the island thus an effective approach towards preservation of the culture.

Negative impacts

Few negative impacts could be associated with the adoption and implementation of the above strategies towards the protection, development, and improvement of the Kahoolawe Island as a tourist center. One of the negative impacts of the strategies is the increase in the tax burden on the locals for the development purposes. The natives will have to facilitate the development of the infrastructures through an increase in the level of taxes thus negative influence on the societal welfare. Another aspect of the strategy is the displacement of the inhabitants for the development of hotels and restaurants. Land is scarce in the region thus the need to displace the natives residing on the island or surrounding for the development of the facilities.
