The business society in the modern day climate is presented with countless challenges as the traditional features evolve. Product quality is no longer the determinant of customer satisfaction, as salary is no longer the element to motivate and retain the employees. And the employees of today are essential. They are the most important organizational asset and this is true not only within service providing companies, but also among manufacturing and industry companies.
In order to succeed and attain its organizational objectives as such, the economic agents strive to motivate and train their employees. The training of the employees is a process often linked to intelligence and functional skills, whereas motivation integrates incentives more focused on creating satisfaction and commitment. Both of these sets of managerial decisions integrate a more salient part of emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence can be defined as "an ability or capacity to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one's self, and of others" (Institute for Health and Human Potential). Unlike the IQ, which is innate and cannot be modified throughout the life of the individual, emotional intelligence is asserted as evolutionary.
