Ethics and Organizational Development

Organizational Development' is a practice known for carrying on effective change in any organization. Ethics play an important role in this practice. This change is applicable at different levels in organization, to the team, to the whole organization or to the individual. The focus provided on these changes is deliberate and are called 'intervention' changes. The change at individual level is for the advancement and growth of the specific members of the organization. Here the intervention is designed with some tools like conducting workshop for personality development, career counseling, training programs, internship classes, 360 feedback, intake of executives and their coaching. Conducting regular programs for company ethics and training for stakeholder management are significant solutions to dealing with individual administrator or managerial issues in the organization. These issues are encountered while managing to meet the expectations of competing stakeholders. (Wood, 121-122)

The team level intervention helps the formation of teams that would perform unexpectedly high. When the members in the organization team up and come up with excellent ideas to change, it definitely works. Therefore an executive supports the team development by using different tools. The tools are ethical training for the team, team-building programs, lining up of strategies, mission explaining, and process consultation. Here ethical training includes examination of the process carried on for supplier demands as well as for making contract proposals. Organizational ethics thereby paves way for organizational honor or integrity. Improving and shaping the system helps in organization development. The result of effective introduction of ethical values in an organization provides for lower unethical or illegal action, favorable approach to seek legal suggestions, reporting any misconduct in the company, familiarity with legal or ethical subject and effective fulfillment of expectations that stakeholders possess of the company. Achieving organizational development is simply based on the concept of procuring the best from the employee, keeping in mind the boundaries of the organizational code of conduct. It is a fact that the ethical administrator or consultant can improve employee and manager's lives by showing them the right approach. On commencing a project, ethical leaders present their view of not laying-off jobs in respect to follow ethical principles. This idea enables the organization to yield higher productivity and profitability without layoffs. There are various elements that constitute a successful organization namely, quality improvement, job enhancement and organizational development. In detail, the responsibility of the organizational consultant should be for allowing the employees to give their finest ability and providing them with the power of change. The focus should be on the system and not on employees and problems in the system and technology should be fixed which would result in higher quality and productivity. Managers believe that any organizational development is the result of effective management of identifying the type of tasks and tasks which are to be assigned based on the abilities of the individual or group. Therefore even the effective 'division of labor' is part of organizational ethics. Here the managers should separate or clearly draw a line between social responsibility and organizational ethics, as the managers are sure to loose their morale in providing a bright future to people in the organization. Ethics undoubtedly is part of organizational life that consists of techniques and models, which are essential for an organization to achieve the mission and shared purposes. The people who have shared common belief result in standing up against the pressures by stakeholders.
