Participant/Respondents to this questionnaire are business owners located in the United Kingdom.

3.4 Objectives of the questionnaire

The objectives of the questionnaire in this study is to ascertain what effects that globalization has had upon entrepreneurship of small and medium scale businesses in the UK and what actions have been taken or strategy has been used by managers/owners/entrepreneurs of these businesses during the era of globalization to ensure business growth and overall business success.

3.5 Design of the questionnaire

. The questionnaire in this study seeks to examine: (1) the businesses overall perception of globalization; and (2) the businesses overall perception of the effects of globalization.

3.6. Ethical Issues

Ethical issues for consideration in this study include considerations relating to the bias of the researcher. Fundamental research ethics principles include three core principles:

(1) respect for persons;

(2) beneficence; and (3) justice. (Ospina, 2004, p.1)

Informed consent has been gained in this study, which is an ethical requirement for the individual's participation in the study. Informed consent involves making sure that the participants understand the meaning of the participation in the research study ensuring that they decide consciously and deliberately that they want to participate. For this purpose the informed consent form attached as Exhibit 'A' in this study has been signed and dated by all participant/respondents and as well has been witnessed. The stated criteria for judging qualitative research is stated in the work of Neergaard and Ulhoi (2007) to include the following types of authenticity criteria with the accompanying definitions.

(1) Fairness -- A quality of balance meaning that respondents' different constructions should be presented in a balanced and even-handed way to prevent marginalization.

(2) Ontological authenticity -- refers to the fact that if the respondents have participated in the inquiry, then their constructions should be enhanced. The author should help the reader to enhance. The author should help the reader to enhance understanding about the social context of the study.

(3) Educative authenticity -- Refers to the issue that participants in an inquiry learn from participating and are able to develop a deeper understanding and new perspectives of seeing things.

(4) Catalytic authenticity -- Is a reference to what extent action is simulated and facilitated by the process; has the research acted as an impetus to participants to change things?

4. Tactical authenticity -- refers to whether or not the participants in the inquiry are, or have been, empowered to act. (Guba and Lincoln, 1989 in: Neergaard and Ulhoi, 2007)

5. Secondary data collection

Secondary data collection in this study has been in the form of data collected via a review of literature including case study reports in this area of study.

6. Methods of data analysis

Data in this study has been qualitatively analyzed which includes interpretive and objective analysis of data acquired during the course of participant/respondent answers to questionnaire in this study being provided. The researcher in this study interpretively analyzed data from questionnaires seeking to make meaning through replication of answers provided or the acknowledgement of patterns. Qualitative data is of the nature that is comprised by words and observations rather than by numbers. (Taylor-Powell and Renner, 2003)

5.1 Primary data analysis

Because the questionnaire in this study poses questions that are answered by the participant/respondent stating either 'yes' or 'no', the answers in this study are analyzed through examining the percentages of 'yes' or 'no' answers received from participant/respondents in this study.

5.2 Secondary data analysis

Secondary data analysis in this study included the summarization of data acquired during the course of the literature review conducted in this study.
