Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the concluding part of an eight part movie adaptation of the eponymous book series. The audience of final movie in the Harry Potter movies would likely consist of people that have either read the J.K. Rowling's novels or seen at least several of the movies prior to watching this film. The prior knowledge that viewers bring with them when watching this movie affects the way they perceive the events unfolding in the movies and the way they experience them. Coming to the movie with this knowledge and these expectations, the audience experiences the movie differently than they would if they were walking into a movie without the preexisting context that they are familiar with.

Given the audience's familiarity with the background of the current film, the purpose of the film mainly becomes that of finishing the story that the previous seven movies have begun. Thus, it is very likely that the members of the audience have already read the novels prior to coming to see the movie. The purpose of the movie then is to narrate the story that many of its audience members are already familiar with, and are only watching the movie because they are interested in seeing the visual manifestation of the story that they have spent several years reading and enjoying.

The audience's interest and passion for the movie guarantees that the movie is going to be consumed at its earliest availability and many of the moviegoers will watch the movie in theaters, as soon as it opens. Their viewership of the film in the movie theater setting means that the audience will experience it in the highest quality available, including visual and sound effects.

The movie undertakes the challenge of representing the magical world of Hogwarts created by Rowling's novels, and does so by utilizing advanced visual and audio technology. The world of Hogwarts, already established by previous movies in the series is revisited again in this movie, but with very different results. As the concluding part of the series, this movie depicts Harry Potter's final battle with Voldemort, the antagonist of the novels. This subject matter gives the movie a more sinister and gloomy look, and eventually leads to the partial destruction of the focal location of the film, the Hogwarts castle. The director's superior command over visual effects allows the viewers to maintain their ability to believe the events taking place on the screen.
