Research Methodology - Quantitative

To achieve the overall objective of this study, the researcher will conduct a quantitative research approach that will involve administering a questionnaire to a group of employees from German and Swiss labor markets. The use of a quantitative research approach is influenced by the fact that the information obtained from the group of participants is numerical in nature. Given the nature of this topic and research question, a quantitative research is the most suitable research methodology because it will help in testing different variables relating to the research question. The results of this study will be interpreted using statistical analyses methods, which help in drawing conclusions regarding the topic under investigation.

According to Creswell (2014), a qualitative research method is suitable when using words rather than numbers and when the data collection method includes open-ended questions. In addition, this research approach is most suitable when the study entails dealing with individuals or groups in a human or social context (Creswell, 2014). On the other hand, a quantitative research methodology is utilized when the nature of the research question/topic requires testing theories, examining the link between different variables or analyzing numerical data using statistical procedures (Creswell, 2014). Since the data obtained from study participants will be in numeric form, a quantitative research will be appropriate for statistical analysis and drawing conclusions relating to the topic.

This quantitative research will involve identification of a group of 50 respondents from different organizations in the German and Swiss labor markets. These participants will be given questionnaires that have a series of questions that relate to the research question and objectives. In essence, a sample size of approximately 50 participants from these labor markets will be given questionnaires relating to the research topic. The questions listed in the questionnaire will be geared towards generating a better understanding of the innovation processes within their companies, the most suitable innovation models for their innovation goals, and how these models are successfully implemented. In order to collect the most insightful information from this group of participants, a Likert Scale will be used to obtain responses. Data collected from these questionnaires will then be analyzed statistically using Cross Tabulation and Chi-Square tests.

A simple random sampling approach will be utilized to identify the study participants from the German and Swiss labor markets. The use of this sampling is based on the fact that it helps in maintaining an appropriate overall perspective of the entire population (Statistics Canada, 2013). While study participants will need to be working in the German and Swiss labor markets, the research will not be restricted to participants with German or Swiss origins. The researcher will try to include participants from different origins/backgrounds through the simple random sampling approach.

Some of the characteristics of the study participants include job position and years of service to the company. In this case, the researcher will incorporate participants from different organizational departments and positions. Furthermore, the study participants will be required to have worked in their companies for even less than a year or more than five years. These characteristics are important because they will help in getting respondents from different organizations and those with knowledge about the companies' innovation models/processes. The selection of participants from different departments, positions and companies helps in gaining insights on the implementation of innovation models and innovation processes utilized by businesses. This will help in testing the research variables effectively and drawing suitable conclusions regarding how innovation models lead to a sustainable business and key factors for successful implementation of innovation towards achieving innovation goals.
