Mixed methods research design has an uncanny ability to provide insight into how: "Rigorous quantitative approaches such as RCTs can help establish that an intervention is contributing to an outcome, but don't necessarily tell you why it is. In other words, quantitative methods can help give you the 'whether,' Surveys, focus groups and ethnographic work can help uncover the 'why'" (ipregroup.com, 2013). This trend demonstrates a truly important aspect of the mixed methods research design proposed. All the research and manners of data collection with this study are to pinpoint the exact relationship between youth and early leadership training and all the nuances connected to early leadership training in conjunction with potential effects and consequences.

Finally, this research methodology is ideal for pinpointing the exact dynamic between early leadership training and communication skills among youth. While academics, researchers and other experts agree, communication is a fundamental part of leadership, it's not always clear the best ways to develop this particular quality. Little research has been done regarding the exact relationship between developing communication skills in youth and leadership training at an early age. Given the fact that this is such a nuanced dynamic, the mixed methods approach is ideal for uncovering more insight into this matter. Again, this is another thing that the mixed methods approach is very good at, identifying the right counterfactual or comparison group.

Communication skills aren't just a skill for leadership, they're a skill for life. Even so, they are still a crucial pillar for leadership. "Leaders are people who think for themselves, communicate their thoughts and feelings, and help others understand and act on their own beliefs; they influence others in an ethical and socially responsible way" (Rickets & Rudd, 2002). It's still not clear how such training will impact youths as a factor of early leadership education. The youths examined in this study are more likely to be the ones who don't receive any such nurturing or education from their parents about proper communicating at any age. These research needs to determine how early training can perhaps replace such fundamental life lessons and if so, whether this replacement is made in an adequate manner. Regardless, communication is a crucial pillar of leadership and needs to be taught to youth in terms of awareness, interaction and mastery and in conjunction with a proper leadership attitude, leadership information, communication, decision-making and stress management (Rickets & Rudd, 2002). Furthermore, a mixed methods approach can help the researchers what youth would have done in certain hypothetical situations without this form of thorough training: "Really what this means is finding a way to ask participants what they think they would have done in the absence of the intervention. Self-reporting is problematic and people are subject to all sorts of biases, sure, but doing this simple exercise can help explain null findings" (ipregroup.com, 2013). Such feedback can be truly valuable to researchers and is something that only a mixed methods approach can really offer.

Thus, in conclusion, the method design for this particular research project was very carefully crafted and was one which was carefully selected. The most distinguishing feature of the design was the mixed methods approach, one which is ideal for such nuanced and complex subject matter. The research methodology will no doubt be able to gather a wider range of data and reveal more detailed trends than any other.
