One of the main aims of this paper is to highlight the main personality traits of an individual suffering from one of the most common personality disorders, where an individual has a controlling personality.

Characteristics of Controlling Personality

One of the main facts that need to be highlighted here is that individuals in these conditions are fond of exerting extra control over other individuals. The control may be in the form of verbal or physical abuse. The main aim of such individuals in exerting control is to make sure that the messages are sent to the weaker individual in a forceful manner and all things happen according to personal wishes and desires. One of the main characteristics that easily characterize controlling individuals from the normal ones is that projection of a grand image is their weakness. The projection of a grandiose image is to cover insecurities and flaws that the individual has in his personality (Evans 56).

The persons with controlling personalities are known to completely lack any love, care, affection, and empathy for the other individuals. Being in a habit of controlling the others, they are not in a habit of listening to the other people's concerns and to what they might want.
