Divide the students into specific groups where they can discuss and make decisions about reaching their goal.

Each member of each team is given a scooter and then they are randomly scattered against the gym walls; the garbage cans and other such equipment is also scattered throughout the gym.

The overall challenge is for team members to scramble using their scooter, while collecting equipment (one at a time) and place the equipment in the garbage can which is labeled with the color of their jersey. All members must collect equipment, one piece at a time, while using their scooter and place the equipment in the garbage can which is marked with their colored jersey. When there is no more equipment left on the gym floor, that's when the first round of the game is finished. All the equipment collected from each team is counted (the stuff that's in the garbage cans) and then the members are given scores. The equipment is scattered again, and then each team tries to break their previous records. This game also gives teachers a great opportunity to walk around and correct the form and function of students not demonstrating scooter safety while encouraging cooperative skills.

The pros of this activity are that it forces students to work as members of the same team. It really inspires teamwork and camaraderie. Furthermore, it forces the members of this team to work together to achieve an overall goal through organized effort. Another benefit of this activity is that it teaches safety: kids are going to use scooters no matter what, thus it benefits them to do so in a manner where they are completely safe and have a strong knowledge and understanding of the rules of safety. Another beneficial aspect of this activity is that there's a very strong cardio component. Students are burning a lot of calories, which helps them burn fat and stay fit. Moreover, this teaches them an activity that they will really enjoy and which is something that they will likely repeat when they are at home and experiencing free time there.

TOPIC: Term Paper on Physical Education Lesson Plan One Assignment

A disadvantage of this method is that if one is using this activity with a very hyper-active bunch of students, there is a strong potential for injuries and for children to get hurt. Some hyper-active children might ride their scooters madly around the gym, like bats out of hell. They might cause a hazard to other students. In addition, it would help if an effort was made to make this activity more imaginative. Students could be told that they are doing these activities in Middle Earth in a search to find one ring to rule them all; alternatively students could be told that the gym floor was made of frozen ice and if they're not careful the ice might crack. Alternatively, students could be told that they can play their favorite fictional characters or that they each have their own super-power that they can use during the task.

Thus, the key strategies to each of these physical education activities within the lesson plan is to harness the creative imagination of the children as they exercise, ideally while they are engaging in intensive cardio/aerobic exercise. This will help them burn energy and enjoy themselves while burning calories, so that they come to associate exercise and overall physical fitness with something that they enjoy. Thus, the resources used aren't as important as the activities themselves and the fantasies attached to them.
