The first benefit is its ability to prevent loss of life during a mishap or accident. This is through its life saving elements like Search and Rescue (SAR), and emergency medical and ambulance services. This has the financial implications since it aids in the prevention of financial compensation for lost lives and the loss of equipment in fire damage and theft at the accident scene. The other benefit of pre-accident planning is its ability to prevent environmental degradation as a result of the spillage of highly hazardous materials on the crash site. The plan has elaborate scene clearing mechanism that helps in containing the hazardous materials in the site of crash and hence preventing further loss of life and general environmental degradation.

It is the requirement of the FCC that every organization that operates airplane formulate appropriate pre-accident and post-accident procedures before beginning their operations. The plans are also to be subjected to constant revision annually in order to accommodate the latest development in the field of air transportation.

The pre-accident policy formulation is an important milestone in the field of air transport and therefore proper attention should be given to it so as to increase the level of safety and preservation of the lives of both the crew and the passengers of airplanes.
