[. . .] Stravinsky's style is soft and lovely, serene and mellow in the pieces depicted by this sculpture. The artist has been sure to make the curves silky smooth and swooping. A person is tempted to go over to the body and relax her mind among the voluptuous curves. The shapes in this sculpture represent swirls of color, a target on a breast and geometric shapes resembling stars on the other breast. The pink color on the torso is very feminine. The green represents nature. And the red represents lust.

The Elephant and Le Coeur, also mark De Saint's contributions to the fountain. Le Elephant represents a division of Stravinsky's music and his composition about circus elephants. This sculpture is painted green with pink, blue, red and lavender stripes on the trunk. The eyes are merely red dots that are surrounded by a white pupil and a royal blue outline. His short tusk is painted red. The colors are vibrant, the tone is careless and youthful. The elephant resembles a circus clown, dressed for a performance. The elephant looks innocent his expression is naive as he looks up towards the heavens. His head is connected with metal works, demonstrating the combination of feminine softness and masculine hardness. Water is released from his trunk, in a single stream, in a flowing loop into the fountain.

Le Coeur, is depicted as a large heart painted in red. There are smaller hearts of red, green and blue inside the heart. The heart's center is red. De-Saint Phale, herself was a romantic person. She felt that a person's heart was at the center of their existence. She thought that people were always in conflict between their heart and their mind -- the conscience and the soul. De-Saint Phale felt that a person had the right to live through her inner heart and soul in order to fulfill her life's missions. She painted with her heart and let her colors, textures and angles take her where they may. She thought that life pulls people into structure, conservatism and criticism. Art was a means for escape. Art was an escape route to the innermost soul and the heart.

De Saint Phalle has completed several large-scale pieces of work in addition to the Stravinsky Fountain. Some of those pieces include a playground and three sculptures in Germany. There is a museum named after her in Japan, which opened in 2000.

She died in 2002 in San Diego at the age of 71. One of her major works was under construction at the time of her death.

Jean Tinguely, is probably most known for his mechanical sculptures. His sculptures all had moving parts and were usually constructed out of metals. The shapers were slender and angular. The lines in his pieces were rigid. Tinguely was born in 1922 in Switzerland. He become an interior decorator and met Niki during an exhibition in Paris. His sculptures were called machine sculptures. He intertwined metal with sounds. He enjoyed the sounds associated with motors, belts, fans. Loud rumbling, cranking, and whirling often accompanied his art. He also used several different parts that would move against each other in different speeds, creating tension and friction. Often his very pieces destroyed themselves through their own work. Sometimes the sense of smell was incorporated into his art. Odors, like something burning, would emit from his pieces. Tinguely died in 1991.
