Effective leadership enables the managers to motivate their subordinates to work in the most efficient manner and to achieve the organizational objectives with minimum difficultly. Effective leadership abilities are not only required at the top management level but also at the middle management and functional level. Companies are not only in a need of a strong CEO but also needs a strong manager and a talented supervisor. At this point, it would be appropriate to point out that if an individual possesses good administrative skills, he or she may not necessarily possess effective leadership skills. To be an effective and successful leader an individual should be creative enough to devise new strategies for improvements and growth of the organization. In addition to this, a strong leader should be able to effectively deal with day-to-day administrative and other job related problems. It is also important to note that managers should not be aggressive and should not pressurize their subordinates for the accomplishments of their tasks. An effective leader clearly understands the capabilities and limitations of his or her subordinates and accordingly assigns tasks to him or her. Once managers are able to develop an understanding and trust with their subordinates, the accomplishment of objectives will become easier than ever before.

Term Paper on Technology Management Is the Basic Assignment

Once the manager has gone through the activities of planning, organizing and implementing, the need for controlling arises. Like other managerial functions, controlling is also crucial for the success of the organizations. It enables the managers to ensure the effective and successful implementation of plans. Through effective control and coordination procedures, managers can facilitate the achievement of desirable results or objectives. Continuous changes in the environment and emergence of several unexpected problems forces the managers to take corrective actions. These corrective actions in turn ensure the success of the organization. Control is closely related to the planning activities. Efficient planning requires the formulation of efficient control procedure. It should be noted that organizations own limited resources and have to cater with unlimited wants. In order to allocate the resources with maximum efficiency, it is important for the organizations to maintain strict control over its procedures and systems. It can therefore be concluded that control ensures the effectiveness of the planning and coordinating activities.

It is also interesting to note that maintaining effective control is not an easy task. In a highly competitive environment, where organizations are continuously experiencing a change, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain strict control. In addition to this, in large organizations, where the organizational procedures are increasingly complex and the workforce is highly diversified, control and coordination becomes a challenge for managers. In the presence of a large workforce, the need for control becomes increasingly crucial. In the absence of effective control procedures, people tend to drift away from the plans and procedures of the organization, which may result in the form of a poor performance or even a failure of the organization.

The best strategy to maintain control in the organization is to educate and train the employees so that they may perform at their best and may abide the rules and regulations defined by the management. In addition to this, managers may define standards for the evaluation of performance and comparison of results. This will help them to create a sense of accountability among the members of the organization and therefore they will try to perform at their best.

Finally, my personal weaknesses with respect to the above-mentioned basic principles are in the areas of decision making and controlling because I lack the necessary experience required for the development of these skills. However, I believe that with the span of time I would be able to overcome this weakness. Moreover, I posses strong leadership qualities and continuously demonstrate the ability to perform as an effective leader. I am also an efficient planner and an effective organizer, as I posses strong analytical skills. These qualities also help me, to some extent, in making decisions on the basis of my judgment and knowledge.
