Sometimes you cannot believe what you see; you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too-even when you're in the dark. Even when you're falling" (Albom 61). Morrie tells the student she has to open up and trust others, and that is just what happens with the author, he has shut himself away from his old professor, but when he opens up and trusts him, be begins to open up to others and gain their trust, and he changes his life in the process. Always obsessed with work, he begins to see there are other things to life, and that he has been chasing the wrong things throughout his career. This trust helps him form a bond with Morrie that is far more lasting than the bond they formed in college, and it heads him down the right path in his personal life.
